Harmonious Multi-cultural Mobile Service Centre Opening Ceremony

The Opening Ceremony for Hong Kong’s first “Harmonious Multi-cultural Mobile Service Centre” was successfully held on 26 July 2013. Mr. Jack CHAN, JP, Deputy Director of Home Affairs Department officiated at the ceremony. Other honorary guests include Ms. WONG Yin-Yee, District Social Welfare Officer (Kowloon City / Yau Tsim Mong) and Professor Joe Leung, MH, JP, Chairman of Executive Committee of New Home Association.

Ethnic Minority families and local families were invited to witness the kick-off ceremony of the Mobile Service Centre. Afterthe ceremony, our honorary guests observed a language lesson conducted on the Mobile Service Center and interacted with our Ethnic Minority children.

The Mobile Service Centre was converted from a 28-seat van. It is well equipped to provide a wide range of services, such as, mini-library, language classes, computer and mathematic classes, themed talks, multicultural exhibitions, cultural dancing performance, game booth, enquiry service (provided by registered social worker), and tailor-made harmony programmes.  All programmes are free of charge.

In order to reach out to Ethnic Minorities in need, and promote social inclusion, our Multi-cultural Mobile Service Centre, will travel to all districts around Hong Kong especially to the public housing estate to provide supportive services for ethnic minorities.
