The Government announced the gazettal of the extension of social distancing measures in accordance with the public health emergency regulations under the Prevention and Control of Disease Ordinance. The measures are effective from July 28 to August 10.

The Government announced the implementation of an upgraded electronic health declaration system on a trial basis starting from 0.00am on July 28 (Hong Kong Time), requiring inbound persons to complete the online electronic health declaration of the Department of Health (DH) and obtain a QR code before boarding their flights to Hong Kong. The launch of the upgraded electronic health declaration system will facilitate the Government's progressive enhancements to the electronic checking and processing of arrival quarantine procedures, thereby streamlining the process and reducing the time required for inbound persons to stay at the Hong Kong International Airport (HKIA).

The Government announced that one more hotel was engaged to join the eighth cycle of the Designated Quarantine Hotel (DQH) Scheme, bringing the number of hotels up to 68 to provide some 26 200 rooms in total.

With an increasing number of people arriving at Hong Kong from overseas, the demand for point-to-point transport services from Hong Kong International Airport (HKIA) to designated quarantine hotels (DQHs) keeps rising. The Government has enhanced the existing free point-to-point transport services for inbound persons, and also introduced new options of self-paid transport services, with a view to shortening the journey time from HKIA to DQHs, a Government spokesman said.

5. DH launches trial run of supplementary platform "Electronic COVID-19 Medical Surveillance System"./202207/25/P2022072500146.htm
The Department of Health (DH) said to further facilitate the self-monitoring of inbound travellers undergoing quarantine at designated quarantine hotels (DQHs), the DH has developed a supplementary platform, "Electronic COVID-19 Medical Surveillance System" (eCMSS), for a trial run. Under the trial run, those who stay at DQHs can, acting on their own will, choose to register their rapid antigen test (RAT) results and personal health status through the system.

The Government announced that it has concluded discussions with the Government of Cameroon to accept vaccination records issued by Cameroon as recognised vaccination records for persons arriving at Hong Kong who have stayed in overseas places. The relevant arrangements take effect at 0.00am on July 27.

The Secretary for Labour and Welfare, Mr Chris Sun, and the Secretary for Health, Professor Lo Chung-mau, jointly hosted an online briefing and appealed to residential care homes (RCHs) and healthcare organisations for their support for new measures on outreach vaccination, so as to further boost the COVID-19 vaccination rate and better protect residents of RCHs for the elderly and persons with disabilities.
