1. Government suitably adjusts social distancing measures

The Government announced the gazettal in accordance with the public health emergency regulations under the Prevention and Control of Disease Ordinance, which will largely extend the existing social distancing measures but require patrons of bars/pubs and clubs/nightclubs to present proof of a negative rapid antigen test (RAT) result obtained within 24 hours before entering the relevant premises. The measures will be effective from June 16 to June 29.

2. Government updates list of places of recognised vaccination records

The Government announced that it has concluded discussions with the governments of Bahrain, the Dominican Republic, Egypt and Mauritius to accept vaccination records issued by these places as recognised vaccination records for persons arriving at Hong Kong who have stayed in overseas places. The relevant arrangements take effect at 0.00am on June 15.

3. Government announces list of eighth-cycle designated quarantine hotels

The Government announced the list of the first batch of designated quarantine hotels (DQHs) for the eighth cycle of the Designated Quarantine Hotel Scheme. The new cycle of the Scheme will run from August 1 to October 31, 2022. The first batch of 62 hotels will provide about 23 000 rooms.

4. 67th round of compulsory testing for staff members of RCHEs, RCHDs and nursing homes to commence shortly

The Government announced that the 67th round of compulsory testing for staff members of residential care homes for the elderly (RCHEs), residential care homes for persons with disabilities (RCHDs) and nursing homes will commence shortly.

5. Government gazettes inclusion of monkeypox as statutorily notifiable infectious disease under Prevention and Control of Disease Ordinance and launches Preparedness and Response Plan for Monkeypox

The Government published the Prevention and Control of Disease Ordinance (Amendment of Schedule 1) Notice 2022 and the Prevention and Control of Disease (Amendment) (No. 2) Regulation 2022 in the Gazette to include monkeypox as a scheduled infectious disease under Schedule 1 to the Prevention and Control of Disease Ordinance (Cap. 599) and to specify monkeypox as a "specified disease" under the Prevention and Control of Disease Regulation (Cap. 599A) (the Regulation). The Centre for Health Protection (CHP) of the Department of Health (DH) also launched the Preparedness and Response Plan for Monkeypox (the Plan), which sets out the relevant plan and actions when monkeypox may have a significant public health impact on Hong Kong.
