LOSE WEIGHT THIS RAMADAN with tips from dietitian

Drink enough fluid
- Two liters or eight glasses of fluids a day (herbal teas make a great alternative to water and may aid your digestion. Caffeinated drinks eg coffee or black tea do not count and it would be best to avoid these diuretic drinks all together.)

Stay active
- maintain your usual daily activity level to a certain extent, but do avoid the sun and heat at its peak.
- 30 min of vigorous exercise a day after breaking your fast, eg burpees, lunges, sit-ups and squats.

Skip processed sugar
- only eat naturally occurring sugar such as fruits, dried fruits, molasses and honey.
- Avoid sweets and sweetened beverages

Have a light balanced iftar
- Break your fast with just ONE date
- small portion of vegetable or lentil soup (avoid cream based ones)
- mixed vegetable salad (limit the amount of olive oil in the dressing to 1-2 teaspoons)
- take a break after appetizers
- choose one main dish which is balanced in carbs and protein
- carefully control the portion of the main dish and avoid fried food

Do not skio suhoor
- Limit salt during suhoor
- Eat complex carbs eg whole grain bread, instead of white refined bread
- Eat a good source of protein such as labneh, cheese or eggs.
