The Government announced that nine additional COVID-19 vaccination venues will be set up progressively at locations with convenient transportation or high patronage this month to provide convenience to members of the public. In addition, five Community Vaccination Centres (CVCs) and one Pop-up CVC will be closed at the end of this month after the new vaccination venues have commenced service.

A spokesman for the Home Affairs Department (HAD) said that to encourage the early vaccination of the young and the old, the HAD's 18 District Offices have stepped up COVID-19 vaccination activities in various districts since August so as to enable citizens of all ages, especially children and the elderly who are more vulnerable to serious infection, to be vaccinated as early as possible to obtain the much needed proper protection for themselves and others under the epidemic situation.

The Scientific Committee on Vaccine Preventable Diseases and the Scientific Committee on Emerging and Zoonotic Diseases (JSC) under the Centre for Health Protection (CHP) of the Department of Health, joined by the Chief Executive's expert advisory panel (EAP), convened a meeting on October 13 to discuss and issue the consensus interim recommendations on the use of COVID-19 vaccines in Hong Kong.

The Government announced that the Secretary for Health has authorised the paediatric and toddler formulation of the Comirnaty vaccine for emergency use in Hong Kong in accordance with the Prevention and Control of Disease (Use of Vaccines) Regulation (Cap. 599K) (the Regulation).

The Government announced earlier that the COVID-19 Vaccination Medical Exemption Certificates issued by the seven private doctors who are suspected to have abused the issuance of Exemption Certificates would not be accepted for the purpose of Vaccine Pass starting from October 12. In view of the interim injunction order handed down by the High Court having considered the pending substantive hearing of the relevant judicial review case, the Government announced on October 11 the suspension of arrangement to refuse the acceptance of the Exemption Certificates concerned according to the G.N. (E.) 893, 895 and 896 of 2022 published yesterday on October 10 under the Prevention and Control of Disease (Requirements and Directions) (Business and Premises) Regulation (Chapter 599, sub. leg. F) and the Prevention and Control of Disease (Vaccine Pass) Regulation (Chapter 599, sub. leg. L) until the court has conducted substantive hearing on the judicial review case concerned and handed down further instruction.
