Chinese Drama Programme (Oct 2016) YTM

What do you want to be? Those received primary education in Hong Kong should be familiar withthis question, as they were often asked by school teachers about their careeraspirations back then.

However, unlike local Chinese, ethnic minorities in the city may find this question unanswerable, because mostof them can hardly find a decent job, let alone to materialize their childhooddreams.

We believe the cause of suchopportunity inequality mainly stems from language barrier encountered by ethnicminorities.

Seen in this light, between Aug2016 and Mar 2017, HOME Centre and Rotaract Club of Kowloon will work together, under the auspices of Rotary Club of Kowloon West, to organize the “ChineseDrama Programme” (the “Programme”),in which ethnic minority children aged from 8 to 14 will rehearse a drama show inCantonese. After a half-year training, they will then put on the show to thepublic.

The Programme is designed not onlyto train up language skills of the young ethnic minorities, but also to let thecommunity understand the difficulties encountered by other races living in HongKong.
