1. HKSAR Government leverages support of Central Authorities to curb epidemic


​​Promptly following up on the consensus and achievements from the second Mainland-Hong Kong thematic meeting on COVID-19 epidemic jointly hosted by the Chief Secretary for Administration of the Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR), Mr John Lee, and the Deputy Director of the Hong Kong and Macao Affairs Office of the State Council, Mr Huang Liuquan, on February 12, the Chief Executive, Mrs Carrie Lam, held an internal high-level meeting on February 13 and appointed the convenors from the HKSAR Government for five task forces. The convenors will co-ordinate with the representatives of the relevant ministries and commissions of the Central Authorities, as well as the Guangdong Provincial Government, to press ahead with the implementation work to tackle the aggravating situation of the fifth wave of the epidemic in Hong Kong.

2. Government announces arrangements for persons pending admission to hospitals or isolation facilities


​The Government announced that it has made appropriate arrangements for citizens who are pending admission to hospitals or isolation facilities, including those who test positive in COVID-19 nucleic acid tests, during the waiting period, with a view to allaying relevant citizens' concerns, focusing resources in the medical system for handling more urgent cases to protect citizens' lives and public health, and seizing time for further enhancing the handling capacities in hospitals and isolation facilities.

3. Telephone hotline added and designated clinics activated for confirmed patients pending admission to isolation facilities


The hotline 1836 115 operates daily from 8am to 10pm seven days a week to answer enquiries on medical information and provides infection control advice for people pending admission to isolation facilities upon confirmed infection.


In addition, seven designated clinics for confirmed cases of COVID-19 will also be activated from tomorrow to help provide diagnosis and treatment for the people with mild symptoms of infection, such as fever, cough or sore throat, after being notified by the Department of Health on their positive results and while awaiting hospital admission.

4. Lowering of minimum age for receiving Sinvoac vaccine to three years old starting from February 15


The Government announced that the minimum age for receiving the CoronaVac vaccine (Sinovac vaccine) is lowered to three years old starting from February 15.

5. Three additional COVID-19 vaccination centres open for reservations starting Monday


The Government set up three Pop-up Community Vaccination Centres (PCVCs) at Tuen Mun Town Hall, Wo Hing Playground in Fanling and Sha Tin Town Hall. Members of the public can make reservations starting from 9am on Monday.

6. Government extends place-specific flight suspension mechanism and implements place-specific flight suspension mechanism for Nepal


The Government announced that the place-specific flight suspension mechanism for Australia, Canada, France, India, Pakistan, the Philippines, the United Kingdom and the United States of America would be extended for 14 days to March 4. The place-specific flight suspension mechanism would also be implemented for Nepal from February 12 (Hong Kong time) to March 4.

7. Government updates list of places of recognised vaccination records


The Government announced that it has concluded discussions with the Government of Lesotho to accept vaccination records issued by Lesotho as recognised vaccination records for Hong Kong residents who have stayed in Group A specified places under the mechanism. The relevant arrangements take effect at 0.00am on February 16.

8. 50th round of compulsory testing for staff members of RCHEs, RCHDs and nursing homes to commence shortly


The Government announced that the 50th round of compulsory testing for staff members of residential care homes for the elderly (RCHEs), residential care homes for persons with disabilities (RCHDs) and nursing homes will commence shortly.
